The Augustinian Fund strengthens the mission of the Province of Saint Thomas of Villanova. Generous benefactors sustain the Augustinian way of life through support for the care of elderly and infirm friars and the education and training of future Augustinians. The Fund also provides support for Augustinian ministries that serve the poor and marginalized in foreign missions in Japan and Peru, the Augustinian Volunteer program and the Province's Justice and Peace Initiatives.
Sustains the Augustinian Way of Life
VOCATION AND FORMATION
“I joined the Augustinians because I admire St. Augustine. I also admire the ideals, charisms, and love what I witnessed during my visits with the Augustinians prior to joining. I was attracted to the mission and ministries of the Order, specifically teaching and the Augustinian Defenders of the Rights of the Poor (A.D.R.O.P.)”
CARE OF THE ELDERLY & INFIRM FRIARS
Your generosity allows Father Hagen to enjoy life in community as well as compassionate and quality health care provided by Alenka Hocevar (right) and her nursing staff in Saint Thomas Monastery. Father Hagen, long-time educator in Province schools, also served as Prior Provincial of the Province of St. Thomas of Villanova from 1990-1994.
Support for the Poor and Marginalized
“One of my biggest challenges has been to witness the reality of these students’ lives and learn about their experiences outside of school. I love teaching them how important school is and showing them the opportunities available to them. It gives me hope that they will create better lives for themselves.”
These Peruvian children live in the mountain village of Pacaipampa where the Augustinians have a parish. Because they live so far away, students stay with local families during the week while they attend the regional public school. Your support makes it possible for students to receive a daily hot lunch through our Augustinian parish. Through the Augustinian Foreign Missions friars nurture the soul, feed the body and strengthen people’s abilities to care for themselves.
JUSTICE AND PEACE: AUGUSTINIAN DEFENDERS OF THE RIGHTS OF THE POOR (A.D.R.O.P.)
A.D.R.O.P., the praxis arm of the Province’s Office of Justice and Peace, impacts the lives of the underinsured by providing health care at its Unity Health Clinic in South Philadelphia in collaboration with Villanova University’s College of Nursing, Jefferson’s Methodist Hospital and the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
