GIFTS FROM YOUR IRA

You can give any amount (up to a maximum of $100,000) per year from your IRA directly to a qualified charity such as the Augustinian Province of St. Thomas of Villanova without having to pay income taxes on the money.

  • Beginning in the year you turn 73, you can use your gift to satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution (RMD).

  • You pay no income taxes on the gift. The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you benefit even if you do not itemize your deductions.

  • Since the gift doesn’t count as income, it can reduce your annual income level. This may help lower your Medicare premiums and decrease the amount of Social Security that is subject to tax.

Stocks and Securities

A charitable gift of stock provides an opportunity for tax savings while generously supporting the Augustinian Friars. Electronic delivery of stock shares is the most secure and expedient delivery process available and provides efficient internal control as well as cost savings.

To help you facilitate a gift of stock, you will need to:

1. Provide your broker with the following stock transfer instructions:

JP MORGAN CHASE, N. A.
DTC #0902
ACCOUNT #P72500
FFC: BOHSA - BROKERAGE #E65639008
TAXPAYER ID: 23-1600614

2. Call or email Madonna Sutter at madonna.sutter@augustinian.org or (267) 272-3048 to inform her of your intention to make a stock gift and the name of the stock that your broker will transfer.

The true value of the gift is calculated on the date JP Morgan Chase Bank receives the stock by taking the high and low share price to determine a mean share price which will provide the actual gift value for the donor’s tax purposes.
